Surfing Oahu Waves "Aloha Style"

Why Surf in Oahu, Hawaii

Oahu is one of the most popular Hawaiian islands and is known the world over for its legendary surfing conditions and powerful tubular waves. It’s on this Hawaiian Island of Oahu that 7 miles of notorious surf stretch along the North shore where surfers put their lives on the line to surf the biggest waves in the world.

Hundreds of years ago, the native Hawaiians once reserved Surfing for the monarchs of the island. Legend has it that they would give up their winter homes in the north for summer retreats in the south in order to take advantage of the best waves all year round. In the 1920’s, Olympic swimmer, Duke Kahanamoku popularised surfing by giving surf demonstrations around the world and today it has evolved to its current worldwide popularity.

Surfing on the Hawaiian island of Oahu is a rich and rewarding experience. The warm turquoise waters, beautiful pristine beaches and majestic mountains surround a legacy of surfing royalty and legendary surf breaks.

There is no doubt that Oahu’s Waikiki and North shore offer some of the worlds best and biggest waves. The North Shore of Oahu is a surfing Mecca and is legendary for its monster sized and perfectly shaped waves. For Hawaiian royalty, Waikiki was their playground, and today it’s a great spot for beginners, intermediates and longboarders.  continue >>
