Surfing in Baja, Mexico – The Ultimate Surfer’s Adventure

Why Surf in Baja, Mexico

You are never far away from a surf spot in mainland Mexico and the Baja Peninsula. Beaches, reefs and points dot 1500 miles of the country’s coastline washed by the Pacific Ocean.

You may not want to believe this but it is true. There are so many good surf spots in Mexico, many spots with slow rollers and crashing tubes are un-crowded or empty and waiting to be tried out by surfers.

A much talked about break is on Isla Navidad a small off-shore island. There are several breaks on the island but ‘Open Doors’ is world famous.

Isla Navidad is only accessible by plane or boat and is un-crowded most of the time. Baja air, offers inclusive trips to the island from San Diego. Another world class surf is Zicatela Beach in Puerto Escondido. Also known as the Mexican Pipeline, it is the country’s most frequented beach.

Talk about accommodation and you will find there is no shortage of places to stay. Surf camps and resorts range from low budget, basic, beachside bungalows to all-inclusive beach resorts. Surf shops abound and recently introduced services include all inclusive surf instructional camps and combination Spanish and surfing classes. You will also find surfboard repair facilities and equipment rental in and around major surf spots. Read More >>
