Regardless of what type of lodging you choose, making reservations is a must especially during the busy summer season that runs from December to April.

Surf Camps in Costa Rica: There are many different surf camps available in Costa Rica catering to all surfers, from beginners to advanced and they usually include comfortable lodging and meals. Find a camp that offers what you’re looking for such as; surf instruction or access to the best surf spots by experienced guides who know the area and know when and where the surf will be good. Surf camps are a great way to meet other surfers and to have a personalized surfing adventure that matches your surfing ability. A few surf camps located in Costa Rica that are worth checking out include; Witch's Rock Surf Camp at Play Tamarindo, Venus Surf Adventures in Pavones (for women only), and Jim Hogan's Costa Rica Surf Camp in Hermosa Beach.

Camping in Costa Rica: Campgrounds in Costa Rica are becoming more common in many of the beach areas and popular tourist destinations. You should take advantage of the storage facilities to keep your valuables safe while you’re out surfing. In general, camping in Costa Rica can be a less expensive option to staying in a hotel and can range anywhere from $5 to $12 per site, or you can secure a clean cabana for about $20.

A good time to take advantage of special hotel discounts is during the rainy season from about May to November.
