Surfing Hawaii Waves "Aloha Style" in Oahu, Hawaii

Best surf spots in Oahu, Hawaii

One of the most celebrated breaks found on Oahu’s North Shore is the Bonzai Pipeline. It’s located along Kamehameha Hwy, a long stretch of beach just northeast of Hale’iwa. The combination of shallow water and a coral reef create powerful tubular waves that look like ‘pipes’, hence the name ‘Pipeline’. Each year the annual world surfing championship is held between Mid November to late December and the Hawaiian island of Oahu becomes a surfer’s Mecca.

Other major surf spots along the North Shore include; Rocky Point, Backyards, Waimea Bay, Chun’s Reef, Gas Chambers, Laniakea, Leftovers, Rockpile, and Sunset Beach

Waikiki offers reliable waves almost all year round. Some of the longer ride breaks can be found at Diamond Head, Tonggs, Publics, Castle, Blowhole, Queens and Canoes. Waikiki is the best place to learn surfing. Lessons for beginners start at US$20. Surf boards and boogie boards are also available for rent

You may find some occasional breaks at Kahana Bay, Malaekahana, Kailua By, Kalama Beach, Waimanalo Bay, Point Panic, Kahala and Ala Moana. Read more

The best body surfing and boogie boarding beaches are along Oahu’s south east corner which includes one of the best spots at Sandy Beach. Waikiki offers great boogie boarding breaks as well. Windsurfers and kite boarders can find excellent conditions around Kailua on the east coast.
